Wolseley is a small community
100 km east of Regina made up of historic landmarks, residences,
businesses, a lake and a swinging bridge.
This
idyllic small town was established in 1898 and was a hub of
activity from the peanut line that ran through the town. The
CPR needed a place to refill their steam engines so they dammed
Adair Creek to establish an adequate supply of water. So that is
where the town around a lake was created.
The name Wolseley originated
from a Canadian Forces General, Garnet Joseph Wolseley, who was
a part of the Riel Rebellion from 1869-1970.

Wolseley
has a large number of other interesting and historic buildings
to see. Come and visit and pick up a copy of the Heritage Tour
booklet from the Town Office, Wolseley & District Museum, Weird
Willies Esso Station, Wolseley Tourist Booth, or the Wolf Creek
Friendship Centre and take a historic walk through our town.
